U.S. Team

Jerrod Guddat - Executive Director

Jerrod received a Masters of Science in Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning from Boise State University. He has over 20 years of professional experience in administrative roles and speaks Spanish. Jerrod joined the OSSO team in 2024 as the Executive Director.

Jerrod and his wife, Megan, are the proud parents of five children and reside in Rexburg, Idaho. In his spare time, he loves hiking, watching movies, and spending time with his family.

Kailan Hernandez - Office Manager

Kailan has been working for OSSO since 2018, but she’s loved OSSO’s mission and the kids for much longer. Kailan volunteered with OSSO for the first time in Quito, Ecuador in 2014. It changed her life and she enthusiastically came back to volunteer again in 2017, 2019, and 2022. She also created and led OSSO’s Teen Service Adventures in 2023 and 2024. She loves the opportunity she has to work with OSSO and help the kids and adults she loves so much.

Kailan lives in Idaho with her husband and two kids. In her free time, Kailan loves hiking, kayaking, spending time outdoors as a family, traveling, watching movies and trying new foods.

Brooke Bishop - Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator

Brooke grew up in Rigby, Idaho and is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education at Brigham Young University- Idaho. She joined the OSSO team in 2024, but her passion for humanitarian work started long before then. Shortly after high school, Brooke spent 8 months teaching English in Costa Rica and Mexico. She fell in love with the people and cultures of Latin America.

Brooke and her husband had the opportunity to visit Ecuador in August of 2024. She fell in love with OSSO’s mission and impact. She feels incredibly blessed to be able to continue serving vulnerable children from around the world.

Ali Carlile - International Education Director

Ali studied Psychology at Brigham Young University with an emphasis on child development and later trained in the Montessori method of education. Ali has taught in and designed curriculum for Elementary classrooms. Her first experience with OSSO was in 2013 when she visited Hogar de Ángeles while serving as a missionary in Cuenca, Ecuador. Ali began working for OSSO in 2023. Her current role supports the service that OSSO volunteers give in the orphanages and she loves hearing about the children there and the different activities done with them.

Ali is currently based in Southern California, where she lives with her husband and three children. Her favorite Ecuadorian food is seco de pollo - which she remarks still never turns out quite right when she makes it at home.

Sam Brand - Director of Development

Sam brings over 20 years of experience in business development, sales and marketing, and fundraising, with a strong foundation in nonprofit leadership and business strategy. Committed to driving meaningful impact, he joined Orphanage Support Services Organization (OSSO) as Director of Development in November 2024, where he focuses on donor engagement, alumni management, and fundraising to expand OSSO’s reach.

He lives in River Heights, Utah, with his wife, Erin, their eight children, including two in-laws, and enjoys family movie nights, collecting Star Wars and Marvel memorabilia, traveling, and home remodeling. Passionate about faith, philanthropy, and innovation, Sam is dedicated to enhancing OSSO’s mission and global impact.

Ecuador Team

Lorena Rosero - Administrative Director & Director of Hogar de Ángeles

Rodrigo Rosero - Financial Director & Director of Hogar de Ángeles

The Roseros began working for OSSO in 2001 as Project Directors. They now serve as Directors over OSSO’s work in Ecuador and oversee the employees, finances, and volunteer program. Additionally, Lorena and Rodrigo serve as the Orphanage Directors for Hogar de Ángeles (“Home of the Angels”) - OSSO’s orphanage for youth with disabilities. They feel blessed to be surrounded by the children and see the world through their eyes.

Lorena and Rodrigo love their two adult children, two grandchildren, and two parrots. The Roseros have also met thousands of OSSO volunteers and still remember every single one!

Laura Zumba - Project Coordinator for Hogar de Ángeles

Laura has been working for OSSO for over 15 years. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she started working as a social worker at Hogar de Ángeles - OSSO’s orphanage for youth with disabilities. She worked in this capacity for 6 years, and then stepped into the Project Coordinator role, where she has been ever since. Laura oversees the needs of the residents at Hogar de Ángeles, including health, food, education, caregiving, physical therapy, mental health therapy, and legal assistance.

Laura feels incredibly blessed to serve both the children and her coworkers at OSSO and considers this her life’s purpose.

Jasmín Zambrano - Experience Coordinator

Jazmín first connected with OSSO as a young girl, when she was living in one of the orphanages OSSO supports in Cuenca, Eucador. She credits the OSSO volunteers to making her feel loved and cared for during her time in the orphanage, and still remembers many of the volunteers by name. After 2 years in the orphanage, Jazmín was able to be reunited with her family. She later went on to get her bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management. She has worked as a high school teacher, university professor, and tour guide.

Jazmín now works for OSSO as the Experience Coordinator where she coordinates volunteer activities. She lives in Cuenca with her husband and two children.

Board of Directors

Josh Garner - Chairman of the Board

Josh joined OSSO’s Board of Directors in 2019 and stepped into the role of CEO in 2024. Having served as a missionary for his church in Ecuador as a young man, he was drawn to OSSO when he learned about it. Josh and his family first volunteered with OSSO in December 2015. It was an incredible experience. They returned in 2018, joined by another family, and both families had life changing experiences. Josh and his wife, Katie, then became more committed to OSSO's cause with Josh joining the board of OSSO.

Josh's career has been spent as founder, CEO, and most recently, as the Executive Chairman of Becklar. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Brigham Young University, and has also completed executive courses at Harvard Business School. Josh and his wife, Katie, are the parents of 5 children. They reside in Pleasant View, Utah.

Rex Head, MD - Founder and Board Member

Rex graduated from medical school at the University of Utah. After participating in several medical missions abroad and visiting orphanages, Rex was inspired to found OSSO in 1999.

Rex lives in Idaho with his wife, Melodie. They have 6 children and 9 grandchildren, many of whom have volunteered with OSSO in Ecuador!

Rex continues to be actively involved in OSSO’s mission as Chairman of the Board and visits Ecuador several times a year. When not in Ecuador, Rex continues his medical practice and spends time with his family, planting trees, and caring for farm animals.

Nikita Scoleri - Board Member

Nikita was born and raised in southern Oregon. During her senior year of high school, her sister Natasha became a volunteer with OSSO and Nikita and her parents had the opportunity to visit at the end of her time as a volunteer. After her short few days with the kids, Nikita knew she wanted to come back as a volunteer herself one day.

After high school she attended BYU-Idaho and served a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Tampa, Florida for 18 months, serving the area’s Spanish Speaking population. During her time at the university, she worked in OSSO’s office in Rexburg, and later went to Quito as a leader for OSSO’s Youth Service Teams.

Nikita graduated with a major in Biology Education and a minor in Spanish Education. She met and married Tomas Scoleri soon after graduating and worked as a High School Biology and Spanish teacher until her first child was born. She currently lives in Twin Falls, Idaho with her husband and three daughters. Throughout her life Nikita has been an active member of her church congregation and especially enjoys serving the youth of today.
