Executive Director Message - February 2026
True Love and Life-Changing Miracles
February often turns our attention to love—cards, flowers, and symbolic gestures meant to mark Valentine’s Day. While these expressions have their place, they can sometimes point us toward a version of love that is brief and sentimental, rather than deep and enduring.
Over Christmas, our partners at Tashirat Orphanage in Mexico sent us a simple but deeply meaningful card to celebrate the miraculous holiday. Inside was a quote attributed to author Willa Cather: “Where there is great love, there are always miracles.” The words felt especially fitting—not because they were poetic, but because they reflected the kind of love we see lived out every day at all of our partner orphanages in Latin America.
At OSSO, we are learning that true love rarely announces itself. It appears quietly, in the daily commitment to children who have experienced loss and instability. It is present in caregivers who show up again and again. It is reflected in partnerships built on trust, shared responsibility, and a common belief in the inherent worth of every child.
Our growing partnership with Tashirat Orphanage in Mexico is rooted in that kind of love. We are deeply grateful to work alongside an organization that understands care not as a momentary act of kindness, but as a long-term commitment to healing, dignity, and hope. When love takes this form—faithful, patient, and persistent—miracles do happen. They may not be dramatic, but they are life-changing.
As we move through February, we are reminded that the love worth celebrating is not confined to a single day or season. It is the love that stays, that carries responsibility, and that changes lives. We are thankful for our partners, volunteers, and donors who live out this love with us—and for the small, steady miracles it continues to produce.
With love,
Jerrod
